The Telangana government has unveiled an ambitious infrastructure plan to tackle rising traffic congestion in Hyderabad, with a major highlight being the construction of a double-decker elevated corridor. This project will connect LB Nagar to Hayatnagar along National Highway 65 and is expected to significantly improve daily commuting for thousands of residents.

The proposed corridor will feature three levels: service roads at the ground level, a flyover for highway traffic, and a dedicated metro rail line on top. Officials estimate that the project will benefit nearly 10 to 12 lakh people who frequently travel through this busy stretch. The estimated cost of the corridor is around ₹941 crore and will be jointly funded by the state and central governments along with Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities.

In addition to this, several other road expansion and infrastructure projects are in progress. These include a six-lane highway expansion between LB Nagar and Malkapur and a proposed double-decker flyover between Madinaguda and BHEL. Another major project is a 52-kilometre elevated corridor connecting Mannanur and Srisailam, aimed at improving safety and accessibility on the ghat roads.

The government is also upgrading over 6,000 kilometres of roads across the state under a large-scale investment plan. With a total projected spending of around ₹20,000 crore, the initiative is expected to boost economic growth, reduce travel time, and improve overall connectivity.

Urban planners believe such multi-layered transport systems could redefine Hyderabad’s traffic management, making the city more efficient and future-ready.
