The Telangana government has announced a major financial push aimed at accelerating grassroots development across Hyderabad and other regions of the state. In the 2026–27 budget, a total of ₹3,300 crore has been allocated under Constituency Development Plans (CDP) and the Special Development Fund (SDF). This initiative ensures that every legislator, including MLAs and MLCs, receives ₹10 crore to carry out development works in their constituencies.
A significant portion of this funding has been earmarked for essential public services. For example, ₹2 crore per constituency must be spent on improving education infrastructure, while ₹1 crore is dedicated to enhancing drinking water facilities. Additionally, ₹50 lakh is reserved for maintaining government offices. The remaining funds can be used flexibly for local priorities such as constructing community buildings, improving sanitation, or installing CCTV cameras for public safety.
This move is expected to benefit Hyderabad by addressing urban infrastructure gaps and improving civic amenities in various neighborhoods. The government hopes that decentralizing funds will empower local representatives to respond more effectively to community needs.
Historically, funding under such schemes has faced delays and inconsistencies. However, the current allocation signals a renewed commitment to sustained development. Officials believe that with better monitoring and implementation, these funds will translate into visible improvements in daily life for citizens.
Overall, this initiative reflects Telangana’s broader strategy to strengthen infrastructure, enhance public services, and promote balanced urban growth, with Hyderabad remaining a key focus area.
