The SRV Government Higher Secondary School in Kochi is set to receive a major infrastructure upgrade with the construction of a modern football turf and the renovation of its existing school auditorium under a state-backed development initiative. The project aims to improve both sports facilities and cultural infrastructure for students, providing a more dynamic learning environment.
According to officials, the football turf will be developed with advanced artificial grass technology, proper drainage systems, and improved lighting facilities. This will allow students to train and conduct matches throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions. The initiative is expected to promote sports participation and nurture young football talent in the region.
In addition to the sports upgrade, the school auditorium will undergo comprehensive renovation. Plans include structural improvements, better seating arrangements, upgraded sound and lighting systems, and enhanced stage facilities. The revamped auditorium will serve as a venue for school assemblies, cultural programmes, seminars, and community events.
Authorities stated that the project is part of the government’s broader mission to modernize public school infrastructure and ensure students in government institutions have access to facilities comparable to private schools. The development is expected to benefit hundreds of students annually and strengthen the school’s role as a community hub in Kochi.
Parents and local residents have welcomed the announcement, viewing it as a positive step toward holistic education that balances academics, sports, and extracurricular development. Work on the project is expected to begin soon, with completion targeted within the upcoming academic cycle.
