Police and excise officials in Kochi carried out a major anti-narcotics operation, resulting in the arrest of six individuals suspected of being part of a drug distribution network operating in different parts of the city. The coordinated raids were conducted in several locations across the Ernakulam district as part of an intensified campaign to curb the growing menace of illegal drugs.

According to officials, the operation was carried out after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering by the city’s anti-narcotics squad. During the raids, authorities reportedly seized narcotic substances including MDMA and cannabis, along with mobile phones and other materials believed to be connected to drug trafficking activities. Investigators believe the accused were involved in supplying drugs to various parts of Kochi, including areas frequented by young people and nightlife spots.

Police stated that the suspects were taken into custody and will be produced before the court after further questioning. Authorities are also examining the seized mobile devices and digital evidence to identify other individuals who may be connected to the network. Officials indicated that the investigation could lead to more arrests in the coming days.

The operation is part of a broader effort by law enforcement agencies in Kerala to strengthen the fight against narcotics. Police have been conducting regular inspections, surveillance operations, and awareness campaigns to prevent drug abuse and trafficking in the region.

Officials emphasized that strict action will continue against individuals involved in illegal drug activities. The public has also been encouraged to report suspicious activities to the authorities to help maintain safety and prevent the spread of narcotics in the community.

The crackdown highlights the authorities’ commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and ensuring a safer environment for residents in Kochi and surrounding areas.
