In a bizarre and unsettling incident from Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, police have arrested two young men for allegedly staging a road accident in a calculated attempt to impress and manipulate a woman. What initially appeared to be a routine accident turned into a criminal investigation after inconsistencies in the case raised suspicion among investigating officers.
According to police reports, 24-year-old Ranjith Rajan of Mammoodu near Konni and his 19-year-old accomplice, Ajas, from Payyanamon orchestrated the staged crash in early December. The duo deliberately caused a collision between a scooter and a vehicle in order to injure a woman who was riding the scooter. Their intention, police believe, was to portray themselves as rescuers and caring figures, hoping this would influence the woman’s perception and foster trust or sympathy toward them.
Authorities initially treated the case as a genuine accident, but further investigation revealed signs of foul play. Police scrutinized call records, witness statements, and the quick appearance of one of the accused at the scene, which did not align with natural accident response timings. These discrepancies prompted a deeper probe and eventually led to the arrests on charges including attempted murder and conspiracy.
