Hyderabad, July 23: Protests over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak continued for a second consecutive day in Hyderabad, with hundreds of students, civil society organisations, and youth groups gathering to demand accountability, transparency, and comprehensive reforms in the country’s examination system. Demonstrators called for a fair investigation into the alleged irregularities and urged authorities to ensure that the interests of genuine students are protected.
The protesters assembled at prominent locations across the city, carrying placards and raising slogans seeking justice for students. Several participants also condemned the reported police action against demonstrators during recent protests in New Delhi and demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged lathi-charge on students. Student organisations argued that the integrity of competitive examinations must be safeguarded to restore public confidence in the admission process.
The continuing demonstrations have also intensified political debate in Telangana. Leaders from major political parties exchanged accusations over the handling of the controversy, with opposition leaders criticising the response of the Union Government and demanding greater accountability from the authorities responsible for conducting the examination. The issue has become a significant point of discussion both inside and outside political circles.
Police maintained security at key protest locations to ensure law and order, while traffic diversions were implemented in certain areas to manage the movement of demonstrators. Although the protests remained largely peaceful, authorities continued to monitor the situation closely and appealed to participants to conduct their demonstrations without disrupting public services.
Student groups have reiterated demands for a transparent investigation into the alleged paper leak, stronger safeguards against examination malpractice, and reforms aimed at improving the credibility of national entrance examinations.
