The National SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2026 has opened as a vibrant celebration of rural creativity, traditional crafts, and women-led entrepreneurship from across India. Organized with support from the Ministry of Rural Development, the mela brings together self-help groups, artisans, and small producers to display and sell a wide range of handmade and value-added products on a national platform.
The event features stalls representing multiple states, offering handicrafts, handloom textiles, organic foods, tribal art, natural wellness products, and regional specialties. Most exhibitors are women entrepreneurs supported under rural livelihood missions, making the mela a powerful example of grassroots economic empowerment. Visitors get direct access to authentic products while creators benefit from better margins and nationwide exposure.
Officials say the mela is designed not just as a marketplace but also as a networking and learning hub. Training sessions, live demonstrations, buyer–seller meets, and branding workshops are being conducted to help participants improve packaging, digital payments, and marketing skills. These efforts aim to make rural enterprises more competitive and sustainable in modern markets.
The fair also promotes the “vocal for local” approach by encouraging consumers to support indigenous products and community-based businesses. Cultural programs, folk performances, and food festivals add to the attraction, turning the exhibition into a family-friendly experience.
By connecting rural women entrepreneurs directly with urban customers and institutional buyers, the mela strengthens livelihoods, preserves traditional knowledge, and supports inclusive economic growth across the country news as reported.
