Pro-democracy activists and members of the Iranian diaspora gathered in major cities across Europe and North America this week to express solidarity with protesters inside Iran confronting economic hardship and political repression. Demonstrations took place in capitals including London, where supporters marched to “bridge the people inside Iran and outside the country,” according to AFP reporting.

Hundreds of Iranian Americans and other opponents of Iran’s clerical leadership also rallied outside the White House in Washington, D.C., carrying signs and chanting in support of freedom and human rights as unrest continues in Iran. Social media footage from Los Angeles showed similar gatherings of supporters holding placards and calling for international attention to the ongoing domestic protests.

These solidarity rallies follow more than a week of sustained demonstrations across Iran that began in late December 2025, sparked by soaring inflation, a plummeting currency and widespread dissatisfaction with the ruling establishment. Rights groups report that nationwide protests have persisted despite harsh crackdowns by security forces, resulting in dozens of deaths and over a thousand arrests.

Organizers of the international demonstrations emphasized that their goal is to amplify the voices of Iranians demanding political and economic reform and to urge democratic governments to support human rights in Iran. News as reported.
