A massive fire broke out at a cotton warehouse in the Rangareddy district near Hyderabad, causing widespread concern and requiring an extensive firefighting operation. The blaze, which started early in the morning, took nearly 30 hours to be fully controlled.
Firefighters faced significant challenges due to the highly flammable nature of cotton stored in the warehouse. Around 40 personnel and multiple fire engines were deployed to tackle the flames. Dense smoke and the scale of the fire made the operation particularly difficult.
Authorities revealed that the warehouse contained thousands of cotton bales, resulting in substantial property damage. However, in a positive outcome, no casualties or injuries were reported. Firefighters had to dismantle parts of the structure and use water from nearby sources to control the fire effectively.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a lightning strike may have triggered the blaze, although the exact cause is still under examination. Officials are conducting a detailed assessment to determine the extent of the losses.
The incident has raised concerns about fire safety measures in industrial storage facilities. Experts emphasize the importance of proper safety protocols, especially when dealing with highly combustible materials like cotton.
Local authorities are expected to review safety guidelines and enforce stricter regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
