Hyderabad is set to receive a significant infrastructure boost under the Telangana 2026–27 budget, with a strong focus on transforming the city into a modern urban hub. A major highlight is the H-CITI (Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure) initiative, which has been allocated ₹2,654 crore to improve roads, flyovers, and urban connectivity.
In total, projects worth ₹43,592 crore have been sanctioned for Hyderabad and surrounding regions up to the Outer Ring Road. Of this, ₹24,752 crore worth of works are already underway, while additional approvals are expected during the current financial year.
The budget also prioritizes the Musi Riverfront development, with ₹1,500 crore set aside to rejuvenate the polluted river and create recreational and environmental spaces. Another major development is the expansion of Hyderabad Metro Phase II, for which ₹600 crore has been allocated for land acquisition, along with additional funding support for metro rail operations.
Water and sewage infrastructure are also being strengthened. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has been allowed to raise ₹1,000 crore for projects like the Sunkishala intake, aimed at improving water supply across the city.
Urban planning efforts by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) include greenfield expressways, elevated corridors, pedestrian-friendly zones, and heritage conservation projects. These initiatives aim to enhance quality of life and position Hyderabad as a key driver of economic growth in Telangana.
