In a sweeping military operation launched early Wednesday, Israeli forces stormed neighborhoods across the northern West Bank city of Tubas and surrounding towns, detaining scores of residents and inflicting injuries on many, Palestinian officials said.
According to Palestinian Red Crescent Society — via local director Nidal Odeh — medical teams treated at least 25 Palestinians wounded since the start of the operation, some reportedly after being detained, interrogated and beaten before release. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said a total of 119 Palestinians were detained, including a former female prisoner and her mother; roughly 50 were released after field interrogations.
The operation — described by the Israeli forces as a “counterterrorism” initiative — has involved road closures, curfews, raids on homes, and deployment of troops across the governorate. Local authorities in Tubas have labelled the move a “collective punishment,” voicing concern over its humanitarian impact, including restricted access to medical care and mass displacement.
The large-scale operation and mass detentions have drawn condemnation from Palestinian factions, which have urged the international community to intervene, calling the raids a violation of human rights and international law.
