The Kerala government has announced plans to establish 28 Automated Vehicle Testing Stations (AVTS) across the state as part of a major initiative to modernize vehicle fitness inspections, improve road safety, and enhance transparency in the transport sector. The project is expected to transform the way vehicle fitness certification is conducted by replacing many manual inspection processes with advanced automated testing systems.
According to officials from the Transport Department, the proposed stations will use modern technology to assess vehicle roadworthiness through computerized and sensor-based inspections. These facilities will evaluate critical safety parameters such as braking efficiency, suspension performance, steering systems, wheel alignment, lighting, emissions, and overall mechanical condition.
