The Kerala State Lottery Department has announced the results of the Karunya KR-740 weekly lottery, with the first prize of ₹1 crore going to a lucky ticket holder in the KJ series. The draw took place on 31 January 2026 at Gorky Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram, and was conducted in the usual Saturday 3 pm session.

According to the official results, the first prize winner with ticket number KJ 972477 will receive ₹1 crore (before taxes), although winners should remember that applicable tax deductions will apply when claiming the amount. The second prize of ₹25 lakh was won by the ticket KK 649387, while the third prize of ₹10 lakh went to the ticket KH 648824 in the same draw.

In addition to the top three prizes, there were numerous other winners across consolation and lower prize categories. Consolation prizes of ₹5,000 were awarded to several tickets with matching number endings across different series, and other smaller prizes ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹1,000 were also declared.

The Karunya lottery is one of the popular weekly lotteries run by the Kerala government, with tickets sold across the state at a standard price of ₹50 each. Participants are always advised to verify their numbers against the official Kerala Government Gazette and follow the stipulated guidelines when claiming prizes.

Winners of the higher prize amounts such as the first, second and third prizes must submit their winning tickets to the Director of State Lotteries or through designated banks within 30 days of the draw, along with proper identification. Care should be taken to protect the physical ticket, as only the holder of the original ticket is entitled to claim the prize money. Winners are also reminded of the tax implications on lottery winnings as per current regulations.
