Iran has issued strong warnings of large-scale retaliation across the Middle East following a 48-hour ultimatum from the United States regarding the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian officials said that any attack on the country’s energy infrastructure would trigger counterstrikes against U.S. interests and allied facilities across the region. Tehran warned that energy, water, and technology infrastructure in Gulf countries could become targets if military action is taken against Iran.

The warning comes after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened strikes on Iranian power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not fully reopened to international shipping within 48 hours. The waterway is one of the world’s most important oil routes, carrying nearly 20% of global oil supplies, making any disruption a major risk to global energy markets.

Iran also reiterated that it could completely close the Strait of Hormuz if attacks on its territory or infrastructure continue. Such a move would significantly disrupt global oil trade and escalate the ongoing regional conflict involving Iran, the United States, and their allies.

The escalating exchange of threats has heightened fears of broader geopolitical instability across the Middle East, with international leaders calling for restraint to prevent a wider war.News as Reported.
