International humanitarian organizations are intensifying relief efforts as conflicts across multiple regions drive unprecedented levels of displacement and humanitarian need. The United Nations and more than 200 aid groups have warned that operations in Gaza risk collapse due to restrictions on aid access, even as they strive to deliver food, medical care and sanitation support amid ongoing conflict conditions.
Sudan has once again topped the International Rescue Committee’s 2026 Emergency Watchlist, highlighting it as the world’s most severe humanitarian crisis. Prolonged fighting between rival forces has forced more than 14 million people from their homes, overwhelming local communities and straining the capacity of relief agencies to reach those in need.
Elsewhere, humanitarian officials report that insurgent attacks in northern Mozambique have compounded displacement, with over 100 000 people fleeing violence in recent weeks alone, many of them children requiring urgent protection, food, water and health services.
In response, agencies including the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), UNICEF, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the World Food Programme (WFP) are scaling up operations to deliver life-saving assistance — from emergency shelters and nutrition support to cash aid and protection services — in some of the world’s most volatile and underserved conflict zones.
These coordinated efforts aim to mitigate the dire impacts of forced displacement and provide relief to millions of civilians uprooted by violence and instability.
