Authorities in Kochi have reported a rise in traffic congestion at several major junctions, prompting a review of signal timing and overall traffic flow management. The increase in vehicle numbers, combined with ongoing road works and peak-hour rush, has led to longer travel times for commuters.

Traffic police officials have identified key congestion points across the city where delays are most severe. These include busy intersections connecting commercial hubs, residential areas, and major transit routes. During peak hours, commuters are experiencing significant slowdowns, especially in the morning and evening.

In response, the Kochi City Traffic Police has initiated a review of traffic signal timings to improve vehicle movement and reduce bottlenecks. Engineers and traffic planners are studying vehicle flow patterns to optimize signal cycles and ease congestion at critical points.

Authorities are also considering additional measures such as deploying more traffic personnel at busy junctions, introducing better lane discipline, and improving signage. In some areas, temporary traffic diversions may be implemented to manage flow during peak hours.

Officials have urged motorists to follow traffic rules, avoid unnecessary lane changes, and cooperate with traffic police to ensure smoother movement. The use of public transport is also being encouraged to reduce the number of private vehicles on the road.

The review is expected to help streamline traffic management and improve commuting conditions in Kochi, especially in high-density urban zones where congestion has become a daily challenge.
