The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued thunderstorm and rainfall warnings for several parts of northern India on May 11 and 12. According to weather officials, areas including Chandigarh and nearby regions may experience lightning, gusty winds, and moderate rainfall over the next two days.

The weather department stated that the sudden climate changes could provide relief from the ongoing heat conditions in many places. Residents have been advised to remain careful during thunderstorms and avoid staying outdoors during lightning activity. Authorities also warned drivers to stay cautious due to slippery roads and reduced visibility during heavy rain.

Temperature levels in several regions are expected to remain below seasonal averages because of cloud cover and rainfall activity. Weather experts said the unstable atmosphere is being caused by western disturbances affecting northern India.

Meanwhile, some southern and northeastern states are also expected to receive scattered showers in the coming days. Disaster management teams have been kept alert in vulnerable regions to respond quickly in case of emergencies.

Farmers were advised to protect crops and avoid unnecessary field activities during thunderstorms. IMD officials continue to monitor weather conditions and may issue additional alerts if the situation intensifies
