In a significant push to improve urban infrastructure, the Telangana government has announced plans to construct a major double-decker elevated corridor between LB Nagar and Hayatnagar in Hyderabad. The ambitious project aims to ease traffic congestion along one of the city’s busiest routes.
The proposed 5.5-kilometre corridor will feature a three-tier design. The ground level will include service roads, the middle deck will function as the main highway, and the top tier will accommodate a Metro rail line. This integrated approach is expected to streamline traffic flow and improve connectivity for thousands of commuters.
The project, estimated to cost ₹941 crore, will be funded through a combination of central and state government contributions, along with support from Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited. Officials believe the corridor will benefit nearly 10–12 lakh residents living in surrounding areas.
Apart from reducing travel time, the project is also expected to enhance road safety by minimizing congestion and eliminating the need for long detours caused by inadequate crossings. It forms part of a broader infrastructure development strategy that includes road widening and additional elevated corridors in the region.
Once approvals are finalized, tenders will be issued, and construction is expected to begin soon. Urban planners see this initiative as a major step toward modernizing Hyderabad’s transport network and supporting its rapid population growth.
The project reflects the government’s commitment to transforming Hyderabad into a more efficient and future-ready metropolitan city.
