The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has continued the yellow alert in multiple districts of Kerala as heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds persist across the state. The weather change follows the recent heatwave conditions, with pre-monsoon showers now intensifying in several regions.

Authorities have warned of:

  • Sudden heavy downpours
  • Lightning activity
  • Gusty winds
  • Waterlogging in low-lying areas

District administrations and disaster management teams remain on alert, especially in areas vulnerable to flooding, landslides, and traffic disruptions. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during intense rainfall periods and stay updated with official weather advisories.

The rainfall is expected to continue over the coming days, bringing relief from high temperatures but also increasing the risk of localized damage. Fishermen have also been cautioned regarding rough sea conditions along parts of the Kerala coast.

Officials are closely monitoring river levels and urban drainage systems as intermittent heavy showers continue across several districts.
