digital services

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government is expanding and strengthening its digital services to improve public access to government functions and enhance ease of service delivery for citizens across the state. As part of this push, officials are rolling out advanced e-governance platforms and integrating technology into everyday public services for greater convenience and efficiency

A key development is the implementation of the K-SMART digital platform, which has already been introduced in municipalities and is now being extended to panchayats statewide. This unified system enables residents to access local government services such as certificates, permits, property tax payments and grievance redressal online, reducing the need to visit offices in person.

In addition, the state’s “Nammude Kerala Digital Kerala” initiative was launched to streamline governance by addressing digital bottlenecks. The programme aims to deploy real-time grievance systems, integrated social security registries, and use artificial intelligence and updated digital apps to improve the responsiveness and accessibility of public services.

Kerala has also introduced efforts to ensure voice-enabled AI tools understand local Malayalam dialects, helping overcome language barriers for citizens less familiar with formal language or English while accessing digital services.

These steps reflect the government’s commitment to making governance more transparent, convenient and inclusive, reaching every citizen through expanded digital access.
