Authorities in Telangana have intensified food safety inspections, uncovering alarming violations in Hyderabad’s meat supply chain. During recent raids, officials seized over 350 kg of spoiled chicken in the city, along with 150 kg of rotten meat across the state.

The inspections revealed poor hygiene practices, lack of proper storage, and absence of valid licenses in several shops. Many vendors were found storing meat in unhygienic conditions, posing serious health risks to consumers.

Officials issued notices to multiple establishments and warned that strict action would be taken against repeat offenders. The crackdown is part of a broader effort to enforce food safety regulations and prevent outbreaks of foodborne illnesses.

Public health experts have expressed concern over the scale of violations. They stress that consumption of contaminated meat can lead to severe illnesses, including food poisoning and infections. Authorities have advised residents to purchase meat only from trusted and licensed vendors.

This drive also highlights the need for better awareness among both sellers and consumers. While enforcement is increasing, officials say long-term improvement will depend on stricter compliance and regular monitoring.

The government has assured that more surprise inspections will be conducted in the coming weeks. Consumers are encouraged to report suspicious practices, making food safety a shared responsibility between authorities and the public.
