Dense fog continued to blanket Delhi and large parts of northern India on Tuesday, severely impacting air travel as visibility levels dropped sharply during early morning hours. Several flights at Indira Gandhi International Airport were delayed or rescheduled, causing inconvenience to hundreds of passengers and disrupting tightly planned travel itineraries. Airlines issued advisories urging travelers to check flight status before leaving for the airport, while airport authorities implemented low-visibility procedures to ensure safety.

The foggy conditions, driven by a combination of cold wave patterns and high moisture levels, reduced visibility to near-zero in some areas, particularly during pre-dawn hours. Apart from Delhi, airports in cities such as Amritsar, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Varanasi also reported delays, creating a ripple effect across domestic flight networks. While no large-scale cancellations were reported, delays ranged from 30 minutes to several hours.

Rail and road travel were also affected, with trains running behind schedule and motorists urged to exercise caution on highways due to poor visibility. Traffic police in multiple states advised the use of fog lights and reduced speeds to prevent accidents. Weather officials stated that such conditions are typical for this time of year and are likely to persist over the next few days, especially during night and early morning hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued dense to very dense fog in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi-NCR. Passengers and daily commuters have been advised to stay updated with official weather alerts and travel advisories as winter conditions continue to challenge transportation systems across the region news as reported.
