Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan released the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s 10-year progress report, highlighting key achievements and claiming that a vast majority of election promises have been fulfilled.
Presenting the report at a press conference in Kannur, the Chief Minister stated that nearly 97% of the promises made in the 2021 election manifesto have either been fully implemented or are in the final stages of completion. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of a government to remain transparent and accountable to the public by sharing its performance record.
The report highlights several flagship achievements across sectors. One of the major milestones includes the construction of around five lakh houses under the LIFE Mission, benefiting lakhs of families across the state. Additionally, over 4.5 lakh land titles were distributed to landless citizens, addressing long-standing ownership issues.
The government also claimed significant success in poverty alleviation, stating that more than 64,000 families have been lifted out of extreme poverty, making Kerala one of the few regions to achieve such progress. Welfare measures such as financial assistance for women, housing protection laws, and improved social security systems were also highlighted as key accomplishments.
On the development front, the report points to advancements in infrastructure projects, employment generation through public sector appointments, and initiatives to boost ease of doing business. The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s focus on inclusive growth, ensuring that development benefits reach all sections of society.
However, the report has also triggered political debate, with opposition leaders questioning its accuracy and timing, especially with elections just days away.
With polling scheduled for April 9, the release of this report is seen as a major move to influence voters by showcasing the government’s decade-long performance.
