Bengaluru is preparing to open its first double-decker flyover near Silk Board Junction, a major infrastructure project aimed at reducing the city’s severe traffic congestion. The project, developed by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), is expected to significantly improve transportation in one of the busiest areas of the city.
The double-decker structure is designed with two levels: the lower level will be used by regular vehicles, while the upper level will support the upcoming metro line. This innovative design allows both road traffic and metro transport to operate within the same corridor, making better use of limited urban space.
Silk Board Junction is one of Bengaluru’s most congested traffic points, connecting major roads that lead to important technology hubs such as Electronic City and Outer Ring Road. Thousands of commuters pass through the area daily, often facing long delays during peak hours. The new flyover is expected to reduce travel time significantly and improve traffic flow.
Engineers involved in the project have completed most of the construction work, and final preparations are underway before opening the flyover fully to motorists. Authorities are also conducting safety inspections and traffic management planning to ensure smooth operations once the flyover becomes operational.
