Authorities in Bengaluru have rolled out extensive security and crowd management measures ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026 matches at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With thousands of cricket fans expected to attend, officials are prioritizing safety and smooth movement around the venue.
The new plan includes the installation of over 500 AI-enabled CCTV cameras to monitor crowds in real time. Multiple security agencies, including city police, special forces, and disaster response teams, will be deployed to prevent incidents and ensure quick response in emergencies.
To ease congestion, authorities have integrated match tickets with metro travel, allowing spectators to use public transport conveniently. Metro services will run at higher frequency, with trains arriving every three minutes on match days. Dedicated pedestrian routes and 28 wide entry gates have also been arranged to streamline the flow of crowds.
Traffic restrictions will be enforced around the stadium, especially along Cubbon Road, to minimize vehicle congestion. Officials have urged fans to avoid bringing vehicles and instead rely on public transport. Mock drills have already been conducted to test emergency preparedness.
The move comes after past concerns about overcrowding and safety risks at large sporting events. Authorities emphasized that only ticket holders will be allowed near the stadium, and strict checks will be in place.
With these measures, the city aims to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for cricket fans while maintaining order during one of the biggest sporting events of the year.
