The Kerala government has unveiled a series of new initiatives to strengthen public healthcare services and make quality medical care more accessible across the state. Health authorities are accelerating efforts to upgrade facilities, expand services, and introduce technology‑driven solutions aimed at benefiting patients at all levels of the health system.
In recent months, Kerala has focused on modernising its health infrastructure by rolling out advanced digital health systems across hospitals and health centres, aiming for full digitisation of public healthcare. Over 900 health institutions are now part of the state’s e‑health network, enabling streamlined services like online appointments, digital records, and easier access to care.
The state has also launched innovative models such as low‑cost diagnostic services under the Nirnaya initiative, which links more than 1,300 laboratories to provide affordable tests near patients’ homes.
To offer better support to elderly and chronically ill patients, Kerala has introduced the Universal Palliative Care project and the Kerala Palliative Care Grid, a tech‑enabled framework that unifies care efforts and responds to the needs of a growing ageing population.
These initiatives reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to improving preventive, primary, and specialised healthcare services, ensuring that quality health services reach every citizen.
