During a recent meeting of the Ernakulam District Development Committee, a local MLA urged officials to accelerate ongoing civic projects and prioritize urgent infrastructure needs. Key demands included the renovation of bus stands, improvements in traffic management, and better pollution control near Infopark.

The MLA highlighted that while significant funds have been allocated for district development, implementation delays have affected public convenience. “Our citizens deserve better, especially in areas like urban mobility, waste management, and green spaces. We cannot afford to wait,” said the legislator.

Officials assured the committee that the projects were in advanced stages but acknowledged delays caused by technical challenges and contractor issues. Plans to upgrade public transport facilities and expand pedestrian pathways are underway. Additionally, steps are being taken to monitor air and water quality near industrial zones, including Infopark and surrounding tech parks.

Residents expressed optimism about the renewed focus, citing long-standing concerns about traffic congestion and environmental hazards. Community leaders also suggested using smart city technology to track project progress and ensure transparency.

Experts note that Ernakulam’s rapid urbanization requires efficient governance and timely infrastructure development to maintain the city’s livability standards. The MLA concluded the session by emphasizing collaboration between local authorities, citizens, and private partners to accelerate progress and improve quality of life.

With the government showing renewed urgency, citizens hope to see tangible improvements in public facilities and environmental management over the coming months.
