The Haryana government has launched a public consultation drive for the 2026–27 state budget, inviting citizens, experts and stakeholders to submit suggestions and feedback until January 31. The initiative aims to broaden participatory governance and ensure the budget reflects the real needs and priorities of the state’s 2.8 crore residents.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who also holds the finance portfolio, has driven the outreach through a series of pre-budget meetings and digital platforms. Public inputs can be conveyed via multiple channels — a missed call service, an AI-powered interface, and an online form — with options available in Haryanvi, Hindi and English to maximise accessibility.

Since early January, the government has held twelve pre-budget consultations with around 1,597 stakeholders, collecting more than 9,000 suggestions spanning sectors like health, education, industry, agriculture and women’s empowerment. Many of these inputs have already begun shaping policy deliberations, reflecting a collaborative approach to fiscal planning.

Officials emphasise that this year’s budget should not merely be a financial document but a “budget of aspirations” tailored to improve public welfare, drive inclusive growth and strengthen grassroots development. By incorporating citizen feedback, the administration hopes to align spending priorities with evolving socio-economic needs and build broader trust in the budgeting process.

The consultation phase will run through January 31, after which the government will review submissions and integrate them into the final draft of the 2026–27 budget, continuing Haryana’s push for transparent and participatory governance news as reported.
