As the southwest monsoon gains strength, the Kerala government has intensified preparedness measures across vulnerable districts to ensure public safety and minimize potential damage. District administrations have been directed to remain on high alert following weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state.
Control rooms have been activated at the state and district levels, while disaster response teams, including the Fire and Rescue Services and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), have been placed on standby. Local bodies have been instructed to identify flood-prone areas, clear drainage systems, and ensure the readiness of relief camps. Fisherfolk have been advised against venturing into the sea due to rough conditions.
