The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the draft voter lists for Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process ahead of the upcoming state elections. This crucial exercise aims to ensure that electoral rolls are accurate, inclusive, and up to date before the polling schedule is announced.

According to officials, the draft rolls include newly eligible voters, particularly young citizens who have recently turned 18, while also reflecting deletions and corrections based on field verification. The SIR process focuses on removing duplicate entries, correcting errors in voter details, and updating addresses to maintain the integrity of the electoral database.

The Election Commission has invited citizens, political parties, and other stakeholders to examine the draft voter lists carefully. Voters who find discrepancies—such as missing names, incorrect personal details, or duplicate entries—can file claims and objections within the stipulated period. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and election officials will assist voters during this verification phase, both online and offline.

In Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, special awareness drives have been launched to encourage maximum public participation in the revision process. The ECI has emphasized that an accurate voter list is the foundation of free and fair elections and has urged voters not to miss the opportunity to verify their details.

After the claims and objections period concludes, the final voter lists will be published, forming the basis for the forthcoming assembly elections. The Commission reiterated its commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and the smooth conduct of elections across all states.
