Tamil Nadu has announced the introduction of several new eco-tourism hotspots aimed at promoting sustainable travel while enhancing camping and glamping experiences in the state’s picturesque hill regions. Developed in close coordination with the Forest Department, the initiative focuses on balancing tourism growth with environmental conservation and responsible land use.

The newly identified eco-tourism locations are spread across forested hill areas known for their rich biodiversity, cool climate, and scenic landscapes. Visitors will be able to enjoy nature-based stays through well-regulated camping sites and eco-friendly glamping facilities that offer comfort without harming the natural surroundings. Structures will use sustainable materials, operate on minimal power, and follow strict guidelines on waste management and water conservation.

Forest Department oversight ensures that tourism activities do not disturb wildlife habitats or sensitive ecosystems. Trained forest guides, controlled visitor capacity, and clearly marked activity zones will help maintain ecological balance. Trekking, birdwatching, night safaris (where permitted), and nature education programs will be key attractions, offering tourists meaningful engagement with the environment.

The initiative is also expected to generate employment for local communities by involving them in guiding services, campsite management, and the promotion of local culture and cuisine. Officials believe this approach will create long-term economic benefits while encouraging conservation awareness among visitors.

Tourism experts view the move as a strategic step to diversify Tamil Nadu’s tourism offerings and reduce pressure on overcrowded destinations. By integrating comfort, conservation, and community participation, the state’s eco-tourism push positions Tamil Nadu as a leading destination for responsible hill tourism in India.
