Ahead of the upcoming local-body elections in Telangana, district administrations across the state have stepped up enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) to ensure fair and transparent polling. Authorities have deployed multiple flying squads, surveillance teams, and static inspection units across key regions to prevent electoral violations such as illegal campaigning, distribution of money or gifts to voters, and unauthorized political advertisements.
Officials stated that with political activities gaining momentum, strict monitoring has become essential to maintain a level playing field for all candidates. Flying squads have been instructed to carry out surprise checks on vehicles, party offices, commercial establishments, and public gatherings to detect any suspicious movement of cash, liquor, or inducements meant to influence voters. In several districts, control rooms have been set up to respond quickly to citizen complaints and coordinate with ground teams for real-time action.
Apart from physical monitoring, authorities are also utilizing CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring, and video-recording teams to identify violations during rallies, door-to-door campaigns, and public meetings. Returning Officers and Election Observers have been directed to ensure strict adherence to MCC guidelines, including expenditure limits for candidates.
Public awareness drives are underway to encourage citizens to report violations through dedicated helplines and mobile apps. The Election Commission has emphasized that any breach—whether by candidates, party workers, or officials—will be dealt with sternly.
With these measures, the administration aims to conduct peaceful, transparent, and unbiased elections across Telangana’s rural and urban local bodies.
