Hyderabad, August 3:
Hyderabad is set to host the Second BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) Meeting and the Expert Network on Anti-Corruption Cooperation on August 4 and 5, bringing together senior officials and experts from BRICS member countries to strengthen international cooperation against corruption. The event is being held under India’s BRICS Presidency 2026 and is expected to witness the participation of around 40 delegates representing the 11 BRICS member nations.
The two-day meeting will focus on enhancing collaboration in areas such as asset recovery, tackling cross-border corruption, transparency in governance, and strengthening institutional accountability. Delegates will also discuss ways to improve information sharing, adopt technology-driven solutions to combat corruption, and develop stronger mechanisms for tracing and recovering illicit assets.
The Hyderabad meeting follows the successful first BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting, held virtually in June under India’s chairmanship. During that meeting, member nations agreed to continue discussions on practical cooperation, ethical governance, and combating financial crimes through greater international coordination.
Ahead of the international event, the Telangana government has completed extensive security and logistical preparations. Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju recently reviewed the arrangements with senior state and central government officials, directing all departments to ensure seamless coordination for the high-profile gathering.
The BRICS grouping—comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates—has increasingly emphasized cooperation in governance, transparency, and combating corruption as part of its broader agenda for sustainable development and international collaboration. Hyderabad’s hosting of the meeting further reinforces the city’s growing reputation as a preferred venue for major global diplomatic and policy engagements.
