Hyderabad, August 1: Hyderabad is set to take a major step towards integrated public transportation as Hyderabad Metro Rail and the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) work on introducing a common travel ticket for commuters. The proposed system will enable passengers to use both Metro trains and TGSRTC buses with a single payment method, making daily travel more convenient and efficient.
The integrated ticketing initiative is aimed at creating a seamless travel experience by reducing the need for separate tickets or payment systems when switching between buses and Metro services. Officials believe the move will simplify commuting, shorten waiting times, and encourage more residents to opt for public transportation instead of private vehicles.
According to transport authorities, the proposed system is expected to support multiple payment options, including smart cards, digital wallets, QR-code-based tickets, and mobile applications. Commuters will be able to complete an entire journey—from boarding a TGSRTC bus to transferring to the Metro—using a single integrated ticket, eliminating the inconvenience of multiple transactions.
