Vegetable prices at Chennai’s Koyambedu Wholesale Market witnessed moderate fluctuations on Tuesday, July 28, with a few key commodities recording noticeable price changes. Traders attributed the movement to variations in daily arrivals and demand from retailers across Tamil Nadu.
According to traders, drumstick and capsicum prices declined compared with last week’s rates due to improved supply. In contrast, beans, Ooty carrots, and green chillies became more expensive as arrivals from producing regions decreased, leading to stronger wholesale demand.
Market officials said that overall vegetable arrivals remained steady, and most essential vegetables continued to be available in sufficient quantities. Retailers are expected to closely monitor supply over the coming days, as weather conditions in farming regions could influence prices further.
