A devastating fire tore through the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district shortly before midnight on July 13, 2026, killing at least 27 people and injuring 63 others, including 22 in critical condition. The blaze spread rapidly, trapping many patrons inside the crowded entertainment venue.
According to Thai authorities, the fire is believed to have started near the stage, possibly due to an electrical short circuit in a ceiling air-conditioning system. Witnesses reported hearing an explosion before flames and thick smoke quickly engulfed the building, causing panic as customers rushed to escape.
Rescue teams found several victims near the venue’s restrooms, where they had sought refuge from the smoke and flames. Initial investigations indicate that obstructed emergency exits and highly flammable interior materials may have worsened the tragedy by slowing evacuation efforts. Firefighters brought the blaze under control after about 30 minutes.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt visited the site, expressing condolences to the victims’ families and ordering a full investigation into the incident.
