Chennai Police has launched a new anti-drug awareness initiative by appointing an expert panel to educate students and communities about the risks of drug abuse. The programme is designed to strengthen prevention efforts through public outreach and awareness campaigns across the city.

According to reports, the panel brings together professionals from multiple fields including law, policing, education, healthcare, and social work. The team will conduct awareness sessions, presentations, interactive activities, and community engagement programmes to encourage informed choices among young people.

As part of the initiative, visits are planned across more than 100 schools and colleges in Chennai, with activities aimed at reaching thousands of students through educational and motivational programmes. Authorities say the campaign focuses on prevention and early awareness rather than enforcement alone.

The move follows broader anti-drug awareness efforts taking place across Tamil Nadu in recent weeks and reflects a wider focus on public education and community participation in addressing substance abuse concerns.
