Educational institutions across Kerala have launched a series of anti-drug awareness programs as part of the state government’s intensified campaign against narcotics and substance abuse. The initiative comes alongside the statewide “Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt” campaign, which aims to combat drug trafficking while promoting awareness among students about the dangers of drug use.
Schools, colleges, and higher educational institutions have begun conducting awareness sessions, seminars, workshops, and interactive programs designed to educate students about the physical, psychological, social, and legal consequences of substance abuse. Education officials stated that young people remain one of the most vulnerable groups targeted by drug networks, making prevention and awareness a top priority.
As part of the campaign, students are participating in anti-drug pledges, discussions, poster exhibitions, essay competitions, and awareness rallies. Special sessions led by health professionals, psychologists, police officers, and anti-narcotics experts are being organized to help students understand the long-term impact of drug addiction and the importance of making healthy life choices.
The Kerala Police, Excise Department, Education Department, and local administrations are working together to implement the awareness programs.
