The campaign for the 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly election officially concluded today, marking the end of weeks of intense political activity across the state. With polling scheduled for April 9, all major political parties wrapped up their final rallies, roadshows, and voter outreach programs amid heightened public interest and tight competition.
The election is being held to decide representatives for all 140 constituencies in the state assembly, with over 2.6 crore eligible voters expected to participate in the democratic process.
This year’s electoral battle has evolved into a multi-layered contest, with key alliances engaging in aggressive campaigning focused on welfare schemes, development promises, and governance records. In several constituencies, the contest is not limited to a simple two-front rivalry, but has turned into triangular fights, making the outcome more unpredictable.
As campaigning ended, authorities have enforced strict regulations to ensure a free and fair election. A statewide “silent period” has now begun, during which public campaigning is prohibited. Additionally, precautionary measures such as increased police deployment, surveillance, and monitoring systems have been put in place across polling stations.
