Bengaluru authorities have implemented extensive safety and crowd-management measures ahead of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The move comes in response to past incidents and the anticipated surge in spectator turnout.
City police, in coordination with multiple agencies, have deployed over 500 CCTV cameras equipped with AI-based crowd analytics to monitor real-time movement and prevent overcrowding. Entry systems have been redesigned with 28 access gates, and spectators are allowed entry up to four hours before match time to reduce congestion.
In a commuter-friendly initiative, match tickets now include free access to the Namma Metro, with trains scheduled every three minutes on match days. Officials say this will significantly ease traffic pressure around the stadium and encourage the use of public transport.
Security has also been intensified with the deployment of specialized forces such as the Garuda Force and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Mock drills have been conducted to test emergency preparedness and evacuation procedures.
Authorities have urged citizens without valid tickets to avoid gathering near the venue, as restrictions will be strictly enforced. With these measures in place, Bengaluru aims to ensure a safe and smooth IPL experience for fans while restoring confidence after previous incidents.
