The Telangana government has stepped in to calm public concerns over fuel shortages in Hyderabad, assuring citizens that there is no disruption in the availability of petrol, diesel, or domestic LPG. This comes after reports of panic buying led to increased demand across several fuel stations in the city.

According to officials, fuel demand surged by nearly 25% in recent days, triggering long queues at petrol pumps and temporary stockouts in certain areas. However, authorities clarified that these shortages were not due to a lack of supply but rather logistical delays in tanker deliveries.

To address the situation, the government has ensured a strong buffer stock, including over 16,000 kilolitres of fuel, and deployed additional tanker trucks to maintain uninterrupted supply. Oil marketing companies such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum have also increased deliveries to meet the growing demand.

Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy urged citizens to avoid panic buying and warned against hoarding fuel in unsafe containers. Authorities have already taken action against illegal storage practices, seizing thousands of commercial LPG cylinders being misused.

Officials confirmed that all petrol stations in Hyderabad are operational and are being closely monitored through control rooms and inspections. While domestic LPG supply remains stable, there is a minor shortage of commercial cylinders, which is being addressed in coordination with the central government.

The government emphasized that the situation is fully under control and appealed to the public to remain calm and rely only on official information. The proactive measures aim to ensure that fuel availability remains steady in the coming months without disruption.
