A yellow alert has been issued in Kochi and several nearby districts as temperatures rise sharply, bringing hot and humid weather conditions across the region. According to weather authorities, maximum temperatures are expected to increase by 2–3°C above normal levels, making daytime conditions increasingly uncomfortable.

The alert indicates that temperatures in districts including Ernakulam (Kochi region) could reach around 36–37°C, combined with high humidity levels that make it feel even hotter. The “feels like” temperature is significantly higher, increasing the risk of heat-related discomfort and health issues.

Residents have been advised to take precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours. Health officials recommend staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure, and wearing light, breathable clothing. Vulnerable groups such as children, elderly individuals, and people with existing health conditions are being urged to take extra care.

The hot and humid conditions are also affecting daily routines, with many people reporting fatigue and reduced outdoor activity. Increased electricity usage due to fans and air conditioning is also being observed across the city.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, and the alert is expected to remain in place over the next few days if temperatures continue to stay above normal. Citizens are encouraged to follow official advisories and adopt preventive measures to stay safe during this period of intense heat.
