The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced additional bus services on selected routes across Kerala to manage the surge in passenger demand during peak travel periods. The move comes as more people rely on public transport for daily commuting and seasonal travel.
According to officials, the additional services will primarily operate during high-demand hours, including early mornings and evenings, when office commuters, students, and long-distance travelers use the services most. Special focus has been given to inter-district routes and busy urban corridors where overcrowding has been frequently reported.
KSRTC has also deployed extra buses on routes connecting major cities such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kozhikode. This is expected to reduce waiting time for passengers and improve overall travel convenience.
Officials stated that the decision was taken after analyzing passenger traffic patterns and feedback from commuters. The additional services aim to ease congestion, especially during weekends, holidays, and festival seasons when travel demand increases significantly.
The transport corporation is also working to improve scheduling and operational efficiency to ensure timely services. Passengers have welcomed the move, as it helps reduce overcrowding and makes travel more comfortable.
KSRTC officials indicated that further adjustments to services may be made based on passenger demand, ensuring that the public transport system continues to meet the needs of commuters effectively across the state.
