The Telangana government has announced the upcoming second phase of the Indiramma housing scheme, which aims to provide housing for economically weaker sections across the state, including Hyderabad. The new phase is expected to roll out in April and May 2026, continuing the government’s focus on affordable housing.
Officials stated that nearly one lakh houses are expected to be completed by March, while most of the three lakh houses sanctioned in the first phase will be ready by mid-2026. The government is prioritizing urban areas, ensuring that beneficiaries receive homes close to their current workplaces to protect their livelihoods.
A key aspect of the scheme is addressing pending and stalled housing projects, particularly in remote and tribal regions. Authorities are also working on flexible housing designs to suit local needs. Additionally, measures are being introduced to ensure transparency and prevent irregularities in beneficiary selection.
The government revealed that about 99% of pending payments for earlier 2BHK housing units have already been cleared, speeding up construction and delivery. A special 99-day campaign is currently underway to complete unfinished homes and distribute them to eligible families.
Beyond housing, the government is also planning to introduce a new digital media policy in the coming months. This reflects a broader push toward modernization and governance reforms.
The Indiramma scheme remains a crucial initiative in Telangana’s development strategy, aiming to improve living standards and reduce housing inequality across urban and rural areas.
