The technology sector in Hyderabad has reached a major milestone as IT exports from Telangana crossed ₹3.6 lakh crore, highlighting the city’s growing importance as a global technology hub.

According to Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, the state’s IT industry has expanded rapidly in recent years, driven by global companies establishing major operations in the city. The announcement was made during an industry summit where officials highlighted the rapid growth of technology and financial services in the region.

Hyderabad currently hosts around 400 Global Capability Centres (GCCs), which employ more than 300,000 professionals. These centres handle research, development, financial operations and technology innovation for multinational companies operating around the world.

Major international financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, UBS and Bank of America have expanded their presence in Hyderabad, making the city an important global centre for financial technology and digital services.

State officials also emphasized the increasing role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of the IT industry. New initiatives such as “AI City” and “Future City” are being planned to build a strong ecosystem for artificial intelligence research, innovation and investment.

Experts say Hyderabad’s combination of skilled talent, world-class infrastructure and supportive government policies has helped it compete with other technology hubs in India. The city’s expanding IT exports also contribute significantly to employment generation and economic growth in the region.

With continued investments and expansion of global companies, Hyderabad is expected to remain one of India’s fastest-growing technology and innovation centres in the coming years.
