The Transport Minister of Kerala inaugurated the renovated depot of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in Ernakulam, introducing improved facilities for passengers and staff. The renovation project was carried out to modernize the depot and enhance the overall travel experience for commuters using public bus services in the city.
The upgraded depot now includes better waiting areas, improved ticket counters, and enhanced sanitation facilities. Seating arrangements for passengers have been expanded, and the station area has been reorganized to ensure smoother movement of buses and travelers. Officials stated that these improvements will help manage the heavy passenger flow that the Ernakulam depot experiences daily.
Authorities also introduced better lighting, upgraded signboards, and improved safety measures within the depot premises. These changes aim to make the bus station more comfortable and accessible for passengers, including elderly travelers and people with disabilities.
The Transport Minister highlighted that strengthening public transport infrastructure is an important priority for the state government. Improving bus depots and passenger facilities encourages more people to use public transportation, which can help reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution.
Officials from Kerala State Road Transport Corporation said similar renovation and modernization projects are being planned for other major depots across the state. By upgrading facilities and improving operational efficiency, the government hopes to enhance the quality of public transport services and provide safer and more convenient travel options for passengers.
The renovated depot in Ernakulam is expected to benefit thousands of commuters who rely on KSRTC services for their daily travel across the district and neighboring regions.
