Rescue teams in Brazil are continuing an intensive search for survivors after a tragic building collapse at a nursing home in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais state. The four-storey structure, which housed an elderly care facility along with small apartments and a beauty clinic, collapsed in the early hours of the morning while dozens of people were inside.

According to local authorities, around 29 people were inside the building when the structure suddenly gave way. Emergency responders rushed to the scene shortly after the collapse and began a large-scale rescue operation involving more than 40 firefighters, trained rescue dogs, and specialized equipment to search through the rubble.

Officials confirmed that several people were killed and others remain missing, while emergency crews have managed to rescue multiple survivors from the debris. Among those rescued alive was a two-year-old child, who was taken to hospital in stable condition. Some residents and workers also managed to escape with the help of nearby neighbors before firefighters arrived.

Authorities have sealed off the surrounding area as rescue operations continue and structural engineers assess the stability of nearby buildings. The exact cause of the collapse remains unclear, although officials say the building had the necessary permits and a formal investigation will begin once search operations are completed.
